Slice Seeding is the process of slicing the soil while precisely metering and incorporating new seed into the soil. This process of seeding allows a greater germination rate over the standard over-seeding methods due to seed to soil contact. Slice seeding can be used on both new seeding and existing lawns.
What to Do To Ensure Good Seed Establishment
Maintain good soil moisture for the first four weeks.
It's important to keep the soil moist because the tiny roots of the newly germinated grass seeds are shallow and they can quickly dry out and die. This means watering the newly seeded areas lightly each morning. After four weeks the lawn can be watered like a mature lawn.
Wait until the lawn is to 1/3 higher than you normally mow before cutting. Ensure that your mower blade is sharp and only mow when the lawn is dry.
Be gentle for the first few mowing. Take corners carefully and mow before watering (when the soil is relatively dry).
