Here at Lawn Plus LLC, we get all kinds of questions regarding lawn care. Of course, if you want the best-looking and healthiest lawn, the right choice is to hire a professional company. If you decide to tackle your yard yourself, here are some answers to some of the most common questions we get.
Why does my lawn look different in certain areas?
Every lawn is different. It’s entirely possible that your lawn looks different than your neighbors or even has varying spots within itself. This is most likely due to different exposures to sunlight and differences in the soil. But it’s also possible that different types of grass are growing or there is an insect or disease problem. If that is the case for you, call a professional for lawn repair.
How can I get the best results when mowing?
It depends on your lawn, but in general, you won’t want to mow your lawn any lower than three inches. A great way to test the height of your grass is to walk across after a fresh mow. If your footprint is visible for a moment but then the grass stands back up, the height is set right. If the footprint stays, the grass is too long, and if you can’t see your footprint at all the grass is too short.
Do I need to water my lawn?
If the season is fairly wet, you may not need to add any additional water to your lawn. During a drought, however, you’ll want to water your lawn at least every 30 days. When watering, apply a lot of water and then do not water the yard for two to three days. This will help with deep root growth.
Should I bag my lawn when mowing?
If your lawn has overgrown a bit, then you made need to bag the clippings while mowing to clean up the excess clumps and keep the yard looking nice. If you are able to regularly mow your lawn, then we’d highly recommend leaving the clippings behind. It’s a great way to ensure your lawn gets the nutrients it needs.
